TV's First Identifiably Black Afro-Latino Family Series
Sulma Arzu-Brown is a proud Garifuna Woman, Afro-Latina, born in Honduras, raised and still living in the South Bronx.
The Amigo family is a contemporary story of an identifiably Black Afro-Latino family based on the lived experience of the creator. It aims to spotlight the tenacity and triumph of a community often left unseen. It will speak to the human spirit and through it, communities globally will find points of grace to thrive together.
I am excited to share that THE AMIGO FAMILY has been invited by the Essence Festival to do a live - in-person theatre-style performance during the 2024 Essence Film Festival, to be held on July 5-6 in New Orleans. This is a great opportunity to put THE AMIGO FAMILY in front of producers in the hope they pick up the series. However, we must make our way there and cover the costs.
Can you help? We need to raise $25,000 by May 15, 2024. The funds will cover flights, accommodations for the main cast and crew as well as a stipend for local talent. Should we exceed the goal, the proceeds will go towards supporting the next phase of the project.
Whether it's $25, $50, $100, or more, we are grateful that you have chosen to make history with us. Here is the GoFundMe link: https://gofund.me/4b2c3397
Viewing time is just 2:00
